Abstract:
Adaptive environmental management as a science-informed decision-making process began in the 1970’s as ecology and systems biology emerged as definitive components in the assessment of how human management impacted ecosystems, habitats, and species. The need for flexibility in management occurred as the scale and operation of infrastructure began to have an increasingly persistent impact on natural systems.
