Implications of swimming pools for the safety of buildings under tsunami affection

Abstract: In coastal regions, swimming pools have been strategically constructed in front of many buildings for people's entertainment. However, it is not known whether the pools affected the safety of the buildings as the tsunami ran up nearshore. In this paper, the evaluation of dam-break wave transformation in nearshore can be simulated by extending the nonhydrostatic model, which adopted a special numerical technique to handle wave breaking. Finally, the model developed in this paper is designed to simulate the evaluation of a dam-break wave on ideal community terrain near shore and to analyze the impact of the pool on the buildings.
