Abstract: A multifunctional cross-structure is being developed on the Lower Salzach to stabilize the riverbed while integrating ecological and energy functions. The core concept integrates an asymmetrical ramp, a universal opening, and an overflowed hydropower unit. A hybrid modeling approach combining a 1:27 physical model and 3D simulations addresses ramp stability, sediment transport, turbine inflow, and fish protection, reducing method-specific limitations and enhancing planning reliability. Initial results show improved turbine approach flow conditions and enhanced fish protection performance, while laboratory tests confirm ramp stability. Further experiments in 2026 will examine sediment processes. The findings demonstrate that hybrid modeling can transform conventional ramp structures into integrated solutions for hydraulic, ecological, and energy objectives.
