Abstract:

This concluding chapter summarizes practical guidance for use of ADCPs to measure sediment transport. Using ADCPs in rivers entails different challenges which depend on the

targeted objectives of a specific study. Given the capability of ADCP-RTKGPS to measure simultaneously the three-dimensional flow velocity field, water depth, water surface and bed elevation, suspended and bedload sediment transport, and distributions of fish, there is great opportunity for single deployments to characterize multiple river processes. However, it is necessary to consider carefully the optimal ADCP configuration and deployment strategy for each objective.
