Abstract:
Freshwater resources are under growing pressure from population growth, urbanization, climate change, pollution, and competing water demands across agriculture, industry, ande domestic use, jeopardizing progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6). Earth observtion (EO) and remote sensing techniques provide valuable monitoring capabilities that complement traditional in situ measurements, enabling consistent assessments across large spatial scales and diverse socioeconomic and environmental setting. These capabilities support improved assessment, reporting, and decision-making for progress towards specific SDG 6 targets.
