Call for proposals to host the International Symposium on Hydraulic Structures in 2026

11th IAHR International Symposium on Hydraulic Structures

The IAHR Hydraulic Structures Technical Committee (HSTC) is pleased to invite proposals to host the 11th International Symposium on Hydraulic Structures in 2026.
The International Symposium on Hydraulic Structures (ISHS) is the main event of the HSTC and attracts global interests from both researchers and practitioners. A particular goal of this event is to enable high-quality research exchanges across the broad field of hydraulic structures engineering. In the spirit of previous events, a mix of high-quality technical presentations and keynotes, a technical field tour and the Philip Burgi best paper award are expected to be key features of ISHS.

In addition, it is proposed that the ISHS 2026 host will be able to facilitate the 10th International Junior Researcher and Engineer Workshop on Hydraulic Structures (IJREWHS) as an add on one day event. The IJREWHS is a unique and valuable event that brings together young scientists and engineers to discuss hydraulic structures’ design, new research, and industry solutions in a friendly and non-competitive environment. A goal of IJREWHS is to cultivate a culture of mutual support and professional development among early career engineers, while fostering mentorship with more senior hydraulic structures experts.

Submission of proposals

Proposals must be emailed to the HSTC Chair Stefan Felder (s.felder@unsw.edu.au) by 18 December 2023.
Proposals should outline the concept for the ISHS and provide sufficient information on key aspects (Venue, Dates, Links with other events/societies, Financial feasibility, Local organization & support, Proceedings (process & publication), Tentative program & Technical tour, Accommodation, Willingness to incorporate the IJREWHS as an add on one day event).

The leadership team of the HSTC will review and decide on the submitted proposals.
