 Overview

As part of the Road to Bari Framework, the 9th IAHR Europe Congress has organized a High-Level Panel on EU Water policy Implementation and research needs - challenges from north to south in Europe. Designed as an interactive exchange, the session offers a unique opportunity to connect research outcomes with real-world regulatory needs, foster cross-sector dialogue, and build networks that support future collaboration at the science–policy–innovation interface.

On the Road to Bari

How can scientific research more effectively inform European water policy—and where are the most urgent innovation gaps? These questions will be discussed in a plenary session during the congress featuring short keynotes and a high-level panel.

Keynotes

  • Joachim D'Eugenio, Policy advisor, DG Environment, European Commission

  • Dr. Emanuele Quaranta, Scientific Officer, European Commission Joint Research Centre

The two keynote speakers will introduce the topic of water-related EU policies and present their views on the interactions between science and policymaking as well as the requirements this relation imposes. The keynote presentations will serve as the base for the following panel discussion.
