We would like to extend the warmest welcome to you for attending the 3rd Webinar of lAHR Working Group on Scour Research.
Scour is an important issue in the stability and scour protection design of hydraulic and coastal structures. Inappropriate scour design and evaluation may lead to failure of the structure, environmental pollution, and significant economic losses. Therefore, studies on this issue not only can provide scientific references for the design and maintenance of structural foundations, but also have significance in environmental improvement. Recent trends in climate change have highlighted again the fragility of our engineered environment. New research into scour and scour countermeasures around hydraulic and coastal structures in complex hydrodynamic environments will become more sophisticated and more challenging.
This webinar, hosted by the IAHR Working Group on Scour Research, aims to create a collaborative platform for scientists and engineers to exchange knowledge and build partnerships on key topics in scour research. As the first in a planned series, this session launches a recurring event held every 3-5 months, featuring leading experts, emerging scholars, early-career researchers, and promising PhD students who will share their latest findings, fostering international exchange and collaboration.
For this inaugural session, we are excited to welcome two distinguished global scholars, both respected members of the IAHR Working Group on Scour Research. Their expertise and insights promise an enriching experience for all participants.
Each speaker will present for 30 minutes, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session. The webinar is expected to last 1 hour and 30 minutes, and it will be recorded. A playback video will be made available shortly after the session.
We warmly welcome experts and scholars from various research fields to join this webinar for knowledge sharing and collaboration. We also encourage students and early-career researchers in related fields to participate, fostering exchange and advancing research development in this important area. We also welcome attendees to suggest guest speakers for future sessions.
We are honored to have two of the world's renowned scholars and leading researchers in the field of scour research.
