Based on more than ten years’ achievements of flash flood prevention and control in China, this program aims to optimize the strategy of flash flood risk management, improve the system of flash flood disaster prevention, expand the measures of flash flood disaster prevention, enhance the flash flood prevention ability, and further promote relevant scientific research project at different levels (from the state to the community). The main purpose of this project is to establish a global partnership in monitoring, forecasting and prevention of flash floods, strengthen the disaster preparedness and relief capabilities of countries and regions, reduce the disaster loss, and provide theoretical and technical support for the global response to flash floods.

The seminar on Flash Flood Risk Management is the first seminar of FFR that aims to launch the program and identify the Flash Flood Disaster on a worldwide scale by integrating the understanding of that disaster from different countries and regions in the world. This 2-hour event includes the launch of the program and four experts’ presentations from Canada, Singapore and China about the Flash Flood Risk Management.
