Dr. Woo is an EC member of IAHR after serving as vice president from 2019 through 2023. He is a visiting scholar at the Institute of Construction and Environmental Engineering, Seoul National University, Korea. As a researcher and professional engineer, he had worked, before he joined academia, at the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT, the largest public research institute on infrastructures in Korea, employing about 1,000 employees and managing about $ 140 million annual budget) for 27 years including president-ship of that institute for the last three years (2011-2014). He hosted the 2005 IAHR Congress, the 2010 International Symposium on Ecohydraulics, and the 2012 IAHR-APD Congress in Korea. Dr. Woo authored more than 200 scientific contributions, including one IAHR book as Chief Editor, two book chapters (in English), two college textbooks (in Korean), and five co-authored books as first author (in Korean), two co-translated books (from English to Korean), more than 60 refereed journals articles (20 English and 40 in Korean), more than 130 conference papers (60 in English and 70 in Korean). He has also completed five national R&D projects and 18 academic and engineering projects and published corresponding reports in Korea.
