Design Formulae for Wave Transmission Behind Floating Breakwaters

Abstract: In the present study design formulae for wave transmission behind fixed floating breakwaters, as well as for wave reflection and dissipation, are proposed based on large-scale experimental data in shallow and intermediate waters. Regression analysis of the experimental data provides design formulae for wave transmission, as well as for reflection and dissipation, as a function of the most important wave and structural characteristics. The formula is validated against small-scale experimental data of Tolba (1998). It is deduced that the formulae follow the trend in the energy transmission, reflection and dissipation diagrams.
