Abstract: To address the water flows and pollutant transport during urban inundations caused by flood disasters, this paper proposes a coupled numerical model based on the finite volume method using the HLL approximate Riemann solver. The proposed model utilizes the triangular unstructured grid for domain decomposition and applies a multidimensional linear reconstruction method with a slope limiter to achieve higher spatial accuracy. Simulation results indicate that the proposed model could predict the water flow dynamics and pollutant transport processes in both test cases and real urban areas with stable and robust performance. This model can work as a tool for urban managers and decision-makers to improve flood prevention strategies.
